About American Vintage
Blues' Owner, Jen (Jeannine) Yeager:
Birthdate - November 3rd; Status -
Single; One Son - Aged 13; Born and raised in the Midwest
Associates Degree in Business,
1982
Jen says: I guess I've always
been an entrepreneur at heart! After college, I went to work at
a locally owned international
elevator company for 4 years. With an inbred itch to
travel, I lived in Miami for 2 years and then Chicago
for two more years. Loved living in the big city but always
dreamed of owning my own business, so after getting married
and having my son Zach I started my own home-based
word processing business.
When the boredom of typing
other people's chicken-scratches got to me, I turned to
my real love; antiques and Victoriana. One thing lead to
another and after giving my Victorian craft items to others
as gifts I went into that business full time.
In 1992 my ex-husband and I
bought our historic, turn of the century home in Illinois and
restoring it and decorating it with much-loved antiques
has kept me VERY busy; not to
mention attending tons of estate sales
and auctions. Again, another idea was born out
of my love for collecting antiques and vintage
clothing (and my tendency to bring
home anything old!) After getting divorced, I opened up the
physical, retail shop American Vintage Blues and poured even more
into the web catalog you see today (it's a 24/7 job people, just so
you know!) After having the physical shop open for 2+ years, and
expanding my web market to international buyers, stylists, production
companies and more I decided to devote all my business time to
selling online exclusively.
You're now seeing the
fruits of a love of antiques and anything older than I am
<g> - American Vintage Blues. I guess if I
can't wear all of my collectible clothing, or
fill every nook and cranny of my home with antiques at
least I can share! (And share she does - American Vintage Blues is
now entering its 8th year of online business!)
Be well, be happy, be kind to
old things,
Jen
